Honor your school’s most-improved readers with a C.A.R.E. Award!
Claire’s Award for Reading Excellence (C.A.R.E.) recognizes students who demonstrate marked improvement in their reading skills over the course of a school year. The nomination process is FREE and easy to complete.
WHO can be nominated for the C.A.R.E. Award?
One most-improved reader from each kindergarten through eighth grade class can be nominated by his or her teacher
WHEN and WHERE do students receive their C.A.R.E. Award?
Students are honored in a ceremony at one of the Claire’s Day Book Festivals in front of their friends and family.
WHAT do they receive?
Students receive a certificate of achievement and a voucher for one free book of their choice by one of the Claire’s Day visiting authors or illustrators. The student will have the opportunity to meet the author or illustrator and have the book signed.
HOW do I nominate a student?
Nominations are accepted on the Claire’s Day website from January 17 – March 17, 2017 at midnight. It takes just 15 minutes to complete the form. The form will ask basic contact information questions so we can reach you with further instructions, plus your brief answers to the following questions:
- Any reading intervention programs the student has participated in
- Objective evidence of reading improvement
- Evidence of the student’s improved attitude toward reading
- Description of improve reading performance in classroom activities
- Ways the student has shown an enthusiasm for reading outside of the school day
HOW will I be notified if my student is selected?
Two weeks prior to the family book festival, you will receive a notice regarding the award recipients and the scheduled time for your student’s awards ceremony. Each school is responsible for inviting the students, parents, school officials and teachers of the presentation time.
This award means the world to readers who have overcome many struggles to improve their skills. Show them that as their educator, you C.A.R.E.!
